SMMEs contribute about 36% of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to the South African economy, therefore, are an integral part of the country’s economic development project.

TASEZ SMME Database Registration Form

The Tshwane Automotive SEZ invites all qualified SMMEs in the City of Tshwane, and broader Gauteng Province to be part of "Africa’s First Automotive City". SMMEs looking to access meaningful business opportunities are encouraged to register on our database by completing the SMME Database Registration Form.

The main contractors will be procured using the City of Tshwane Contractor’s Panel while the province’s SMME database will be used for the sourcing and employment of SMMEs and the labour component of the project.

SMME participation is envisaged for all the various development phases of this project:

Phase 1: Construction

An estimated R1 billion spent and more than 6000 jobs are in the offing during this phase, with 262 packages earmarked for qualifying, local SMMEs in the Bulk Earthworks and Top Structures industries in the City of Tshwane and Gauteng Province:

Phase 1: Bulk Earthworks
For SMMEs, this will means the following;

  • 34 SMME packages have been identified upfront within the Main Contracts;
  • with a total SMME value R 221,610,175.00 which amounts to;
  • 47% SMME target for this portion of the project.

Phase 1: Top Structure
For SMMEs, this will means the following;

  • It is estimated that a total of 228 SMME work packages will be set aside for SMME’s
  • with a total SMME value of R 1,479,640,066.63
  • The SMME work packages will be incorporated in each building/warehouse and phased in as per the construction programme

Programmes

As part of the Tshwane Automotive SEZ’s broader SMME engagement strategy, various programmes will be implemented to assist qualifying SMMEs with building required skills that will bolster their capacity to participate in the sector.
