SMMEs
Our mandate is to broaden economic participation by promoting small, micro, and medium sized enterprises and co-operatives, while promoting skills and technology transfer.
The economic empowerment of local communities is one of the overarching principles of the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ).
With this in mind, we set a figure of 47% participation in the automotive hub by small, medium and micro sized enterprises (SMMEs). This will assist in helping small businesses owned by black entrepreneurs, by women and by young people access opportunities within the sector.
The hub was established to attract automotive suppliers and automotive manufacturers, assemblers and supporting services. As more investment becomes available for the hub, we will see the broadening and participation of SMMEs from surrounding communities – bringing a much-needed stimulation into the local economy.
Businesses investing in the TASEZ hub must ensure that they employ 40% of their workforce from local communities. They are also offered a number of incentives for providing work to young people and to women.
In addition, TASEZ works closely with the local Community Project Committee to create job opportunities for local community members who live in the neighbouring townships of Mamelodi and Eersterust.
We are determined to ensure SMMEs receive professional training in their chosen field, as well as with entrepreneurial skills. These skills will be transferred through mentorship programmes that will give people essential competences and technological abilities.
We also have Graduate Development Programmes to assist built environment graduates to obtain meaningful practical workplace experience.
Furthermore, TASEZ has set up a jobs portal for individuals wishing to apply for career opportunities.
